A regular session of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Church Abroad is held at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother God in London

On Friday, May 9, 2025, a regular session of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia opened in the lower temple of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God in London.

The members of the Synod, led by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York, arrived in London the day before. After venerating the relics of the Cathedral and its lower temple, dedicated to the Holy Royal Martyrs, the hierarchs had a brotherly meal offered by the cathedral sisterhood. Here, the Most Reverend archpastors had the opportunity to converse with both the cathedral clergy and invited guests in holy orders.

On the following morning, after praying at the Divine Liturgy in the cathedral, His Eminence Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany; His EminenceArchbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America; His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada; His Grace Bishop Irinei of London and Western Europe; His Eminence Bishop Theodosius of Seattle, and His Grace Bishop Iov of Stuttgart, under the aegis of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God “of the Sign,” approved the agenda proposed by the secretariat and began their work.

The current meeting will conclude with Divine Liturgy in the cathedral on Sunday, May 11, on the 4th Sunday after Easter.
